Our Activities

Right Now Online
Right Now sees its future primarily online. The internet provides an incredible opportunity to break down the traditional hierarchy of information delivery to create an interactive community in which every voice is valued.

The website will continue to feature insightful legal analysis from leading human rights defenders, however Right Now Online will become a forum for anyone and everyone to comment on the issues raised in those features. In addition, the web allows for a great variety in the form of the content featured. Right Now Online will feature blogs, journalism, opinion articles, fiction and poetry relating to human rights in Australia.

The instant nature of the web means that Right Now Online will be able to keep its audience up-to-date with human rights developments through a newsfeed and regular updates of blogs covering case law and legislation related to human rights.

Finally, by moving online, Right Now will be able to embrace a variety of media in promoting human rights discussion, including video, podcasts and visual galleries. Eventually, Right Now will be important in encouraging a creative approach to human rights issues amongst those who are disenfranchised by traditional “human rights talk”.

Right Now Magazine
Even though the bulk of Right Now’s content will be moving online, there will still be a place for a print publication. Published once a year, the print publication will be an anthology of the best human rights writing found on our website.

The print publication maintains Right Now’s tangible, physical presence, allowing it to be distributed to areas where internet access is low or non-existent, and also allowing for greater publicity. It is also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the great visual art in Australia that responds to human rights issues, and to publish former Prime Ministers and judges alongside students and the marginalised within our society.

Right Now Radio
Right Now Radio features the latest human rights news and event information, and discussion, analysis and interviews on human rights issues relevant to Australians today. Right Now Radio regularly invites a guest to join the show to discuss a particular topic. Guests include experts in their fields; legal advocates and commentators; and people who have experienced human rights issues first hand. Right Now Radio also features local Australian music inspired by human rights themes. Because of the weekly broadcast Right Now Radio is responsive to breaking human rights news.
